 Indirect Fired Portable

The BT400NEX-D features a stainless steel heat exchanger which exhausts all combustion gases up the exhaust stack chimney. This allows the BT400NEX-D to provide 100 per cent breathable air which can be blown to the worksite, building, an aircraft cabin or engine compartment. The heater can operate in extremely cold temperatures (<-40 C/F). The BT400 NEX-D is also certified for indoor use, operating free-standing inside a building provided that the exhaust fumes are plumbed up a chimney to the outside of the building. This creates a 400,000 BTU portable furnace. With the optional electric driven fan kit, noise levels are kept to a minimum and fuel consumption is minimized.

 Diesel

A 5.8 HP diesel engine (Yanmar or Kubota), drives the fan, fuel pump and alternator. The engine is equipped with electric start and extreme cold weather starting features like "pre-heating". It is recommended that kerosene or jet fuels be used at temperatures below -20°F.

The heater is certified by O-TL, CSA and UL to operate in extreme cold weather conditions down to -40°F/C with a heat rise of 350°F. Note: if the ambient temperature is at -40°F, the heat at the outlet will still be 290°F. This is the best in the industry. The Herman Nelson heater is used by both the US and Canadian military and most major airlines around the world. Built in Canada, to withstand the brutal Canadian winters. This heater has been in continuous production with ongoing technological improvements since 1973. In 2010 the Original Herman Nelson was upgraded to full electronic controls and electronic valves. Easier to operate, economical to maintain and run.

The heater comes standard with a two wheel flat-bed trailer. Built from 12 gauge C channel construction; completely surrounding and protecting the fuel cell. Tire size 6.9 X 9 One handle, dual manual brake Fully adjustable tow bar that serves as a support when the trailer is at rest Towable up to 32 KPH (20MPH), non-highway use.

 35 Gal (132.49 L)

5.5 GPH fuel consumption rate. 35 gallon integrated steel fuel cell that feeds both the diesel engine and furnace. The heater can also operate from a remote fuel cell with the optional remote fuel cell kit.

  • Remote Thermostat - Set the temperature in the area to be heated and walk away. Save fuel and control maximum temperature to prevent damage to interiors by excess heat.

  • Flexible Ducts - 12" (30cm) X 15' (4.5m)
  • Bug Eye - One 12" duct can be expanded to three ducts via the famous Herman Nelson innovation.
  • Recirculation Kit - Return warm air back to the heater from the work site to maximize fuel efficiency and dry the air. In situations such as flood reclamation and Pest Control (Bed Bugs) controlled, dry, warm air is necessary to kill moulds and desiccate insects and eggsElectric Motor Fan Conversion Kit - All BT400-NEX generation series heaters (gasoline or diesel) can be converted in minutes to run on a 110V or 220V electric motor. In remote locations with no power grid or genset initally, use the gasoline or diesel engine to drive the fan, oil pump and alternator. When the power grid is established, switch out the engine and replace with the optional electric motor fora  quiet source of heat. All electric motors are certified to operate in extreme cold up down to -40°F/C.
